How long have you been working out at CrossFit Dix Hills?
My one year anniversary is coming up in January.
How did you hear about CrossFit and what made you sign up?
In 2013, I completed my first Spartan Race. I loved it! I ran into an old friend I hadn’t seen in at least 10 years. He looked great and seemed to have done well in the race. I asked him what he does to train for these types of races and he said crossfit.
What do you love about CrossFit?
I love challenging myself and doing things I couldn’t do yesterday. I like being strong. The community at CFDH is another thing I love. I’ve been here about 11 months now, and I feel like I’ve been a member for years. The support and love and care is awesome.
What has been your biggest CrossFit accomplishment so far?
It’s hard to pick one accomplishment because most of the time I underestimate how hard WODs will be, then I’m just happy to have survived it. I’d maybe have to say that one of my biggest accomplishments that I have had is due to crossfit though. I was able to finish my most recent Spartan Race in the top 8% overall and top 2% in the female category.
Please name something that you would like to accomplish in the next year?
I guess I have a few. I’d like to be able to string bar muscle ups together, be able to handle the 53# kettle bell, and get back into running.
What is your advice to other CrossFitters or those who are considering trying CrossFit?
To anyone considering crossfit, just try it! It may seem scary and intimidating at first, but there’s so much more you’ll get out of it other than just a workout. It’s the best hour of my day.
