How long have you been working out at CrossFit Dix Hills?
Since the beginning – November 2014.
How did you hear about CrossFit and what made you sign up?
I knew the coach/owner of a box in my office building as I saw him in the gym regularly before he started CF classes. I asked about this training he was doing called CrossFit. He gave me info on the philosophy, WoDs and goals. So, I did some research. Looked very interesting. I needed a change from regular gym workouts, and decided to join.
What do you love about CrossFit?
I love the discipline, the structure and the struggle to achieve goals I set for myself. With certain limitations I have, CF has taught me about mobility and proper technique in order to achieve maximum results and remove these limitations. Bottom line is CFDH is a fantastic place to train. The coaching is great and very supportive.
What has been your biggest CrossFit accomplishment so far?
Without question, muscle ups. They have been few and far between, but sometimes I surprise myself.
Please name something that you would like to accomplish in the next year.
I have 2. First, keep progressing with muscle ups and get them consistently. Second, hit 100 unbroken DUs.
What is your advice to other CrossFitters or those who are considering trying CrossFit?
Do some research, find a good gym (like CFDH) and just go. Meet the coaches and talk about your goals. Everything is scalable; don’t be intimidated. CF is known for its community (some say it’s like a cult)…all are welcome!
What are your hobbies and interests outside of CrossFit?
I play a little guitar in my spare time.
