How long have you been working out at CrossFit Dix Hills?
Approximately 18 months.
How did you hear about CrossFit and what made you sign up?
A friend of mine had mentioned she was doing Crossfit. It sounded like a great workout. I was a member at a regular gym and boredom started rolling in. I decided it was time for a change.
What do you love about CrossFit?
What is not to love about Crossfit? Crossfit is great for just about every aspect of your life. Obviously your body and mind changes with age. It helps me maintain my body by doing my workouts. It helps to maintain a good sense of balance. Keeps my mind sharp with all the rep/weight counting. The comradery amongst the members is always nice to see. Being able to work out with my family is an added bonus for me.
What has been your biggest CrossFit accomplishment so far?
When I started at Dix Hills, I could barely lift a pvc pipe over my head due to my frozen shoulder. With all the TLC from both Coach Peter and Chad, I can now comfortably and confidently lift 30lbs over my head. Doesn’t sound like much but to me it is huge.
Please name something that you would like to accomplish in the next year?
To be able to continue doing crossfit and improving at my slow but steady pace. Ultimately I would love to back squat just one time more weight than Mackenzie does.
What is your advice to other CrossFitters or those who are considering trying CrossFit
Walking through the door is half the battle. You do what you can do as every athlete is at a different level. Have fun and enjoy yourself!
What are your hobbies and interests outside of CrossFit?
Traveling, baking, and enjoying quality time with my family and friends.
